This Age

“What is it that you are absolutely sure you will never forget about being this age, and why have adults forgotten it?” – Amanda Mae Meyncke, who said this about the prompt: “Remembering what it’s like to be a kid is insanely profitable. I tell high-schoolers and college kids to write everything down because you think you’ll remember, but you won’t.”
[This is a remake of an older prompt.]

  1. Dear reader,
What I would absolutely never forget about being my age( fifteen) is my first year in high school. I won't forget this, because it's the first year of preparing for adult hood, being on your own and making my own descions. The four years of high school is the four years no one would ever forget because so much goes on. You meet new friends, you get into relationships and you in an new environment which your unfamiliar with.
In addition, I won't forget how you can't trust everyone in high school, a lot of people would do stuff to you and some is considered being sneaky. However there is some fun things about high school and being fifteen I'd never forget is all of the lessons I've learned like how to be more responsible , because being fifteen you're being introduced to being 16 which is an important age.
Adults may have forgotten about this age, because, well it's along time ago and being fifteen isn't as important and being sixteen, eighteen, or twenty-one. Some adults may have forgotten about being fifteen because they did enjoy being that age, such as maybe going through puberty. Or being fifteen wasn't just as important as them as it is to me. Maybe the didn't experience anything fun while being fifteen.
Everyone has significant reasons to why they'd always remember being a certain age. Similar to me, for I wont forget being the age fifteen because of experiencing high school. While others would have different reasons.

    5. Dear Author,
We both have the same topic. We both are explaining how freshman year is an unforgetable event for us at this age but might have been forgotten with the adults. Even do we both share the same topic, we have differents ways to view it. You focuse on first person point of view and im focused on third person point of view. But we both share the same topic.

  2. Dear reader
Something that i will not ever be able to forget is my 3rd birthday. I was 3 years old and i would be playing with my friends as a little boy. My friends were 1 year older than me. Well anyways my birthday was not like the other birthdays i had before. I would get toys and more toys at that age. Sometimes a pair of clothes i never really use. Well it was my birthday and i was really excited because of all the toys i would get from relatives and people my mom knew.I could just feel the toy in my hand and along with my other toys.
That day of my birthday i was pretty disappointed because i only got clothes. I would unwrap every present and the only thing i seen was many clothes. I started to cry and my mom had asked what was wrong.I didn't answer because i didn't want her to know i was disappointed so i just told her that i had hit myself with a toy.She said okay and walked away. I never wore some of those clothes. Even to today i still have them. They are little so i would keep them in a closet where i kept all my small clothes.
I didn’t expect to get clothes that day but through time i realized that i was growing up and that someday i wont be playing with my toys anymore. So what i learned was to apreciate what i have now than to worrie about something else that is not worth it and it is shocking that now i want to buy more clothes. I would want to buy colors that stand out. I find it funny how i went from wanting toys instead of clothes and now i am wanting all sorts of clothes. Thats how i became the person i am today because i value things i would not get back through time.

  3. I have learned a lot as time passed by and i know my rights from wrong even if sometimes i do the wrong instead of the right. everything changes when you turn into your teenage years, because you start to act and talk different as your body starts to develop itself. one thing that i would never forget is the lessons that i learned and the friends that i have became friends with. because the new friends that i have really changed me in away that i felt good about myself. and before i say that i hung around with the wrong crowds which i sometimes didn't like. The new lessons that i learned where to not think of someone in a bad way before you meet them because they could actually be good people to hang around with. -Brandon Camarillo

  4. I will never forget my age 14, I will never forget my friends, and I will never forget the school. I will never forget my age because this is my first year of high school and it is one of the best years of all my school years. Also I will never forget my age because it is the first year I can do stuff by myself and make my own decisions. I also won’t forget my age because it is the age that I finished grammar school and started high school. I won’t forget my age of 14 because it is one of the best years I have spent with my friends.

This age is one of the first years of starting my teenage hood so I know I might mess up a lot and get into trouble a lot in this age. Another thing that I absolutely won’t forget about my age is the school work and the classmates because it is the first year of high school. Also another thing that I won’t absolutely forget about my age is the community service because it is hard to do community service and to find some, and the extra curriculum classes because it is really fun to stay after school and hang around with my friends and do fun activities. I also won’t forget my age because of all the new experiences I have in my age and high school.

Adults have forgotten their age because of all the new things they have to go through in life. Adults have forgotten their age in the past also because they might have had a normal regular year in this age or they might have had bad experiences on this age. They might have also forgotten this age because they don’t have time to remember it or maybe they forgot that year because it was a long time ago or because it was another same year for them. If I was an adult I would make sure I would never forget this year because it is one of the most important years of my life.

  5. Three things adults forget about that I won’t:
I will never forget how important music is to me, right now. When I listen to the music I like, time passes by quicker. The music is soothing and helps release emotions that you bottle up. When I listen to music, I feel comfortable and relaxed. Especially when you’re stressed or going through stuff. I think adults forget that, they forget the power that music can have.

I will never forget how it feels to be disrespected just because of my age. This really hits home with me; the fact adults think that because I’m a teenager that they can treat me badly or disrespect me. I can be in the middle of a sentence and they can interrupt me and it’s okay because I’m not an adult. Another thing is when two adults are talking about something and I want to know and they say I’m “too young” to know or “too dumb”. It makes me so angry, I have to close my eyes and cover my face because my face will get red and hot and I can feel the anger rising and I just want to scream in their faces “I’M NOT AN IDIOT, I PROBABLY KNOW MORE THAN YOU DO”. Of course, I stay quiet and go on to pretend to be the imbecile that I’m expected to be by every adult. Yet, when I’m having a conversation with another teen, an adult can butt in and I can’t say “No, sorry you’re too old”. It would be “disrespectful”. I don’t see what the point is in having to endure disrespect and immaturity from adults all my childhood and adolescence and then forget about it a turn into the adult who disrespects teens and children. We are all people, and we all want and deserve to be respected, whether we’re 10 or 100. Adults forget that, but I won’t.

I will never forget how much pressure parents and teachers put on me in school. In high school, teachers expect way too much from me. I try my best, reassess when I need to and I always do my homework, but when I don’t do amazing on a test or have straight As, they over react. They treat me like a baby, never let me go out, never let me dress the way I want, hang out with who I want etc. Yet, they expect me to act as an adult. I’ve been taught to act like if I’m an adult, but not have any type of freedom. Seriously, what’s the point in all these rules and restrictions from anything and everything that is the least bit fun or entertaining. In the long run, the only thing you will have are adults who know how to take tests, but can’t socialize. Imagine that, sitting in school for almost 17 years and all for what? When you’re in an interview, the boss wants someone who has skills that you can’t quite learn in school. You need to go out and experience different things. Positive things. Imagine being at an interview and the boss asks you “What are your skills?” and the only thing you can say is “I know how to take tests and ask permission to go to the bathroom” not ‘I’m good with people’, because apparently, school isn’t about the friends anymore, it’s only about school. I hope that when I’m an adult, I don’t forget how it feels to be suppressed by my teachers and parents.

  6. Things I will never forget about this age would probably the moments I had with friends and family life that is happening now. Such as hanging out and basically knowing the people around you as long as I am still young. Since most adults will probably forget the time they went to that bowling place and had fun or the last time they hung out after school and just walked around the park for 30 minutes. These are the times that I will mostly not forget even if I haven't seen any of my friends in years, because these were the moments I had that were fun. Once you're off to to work, there mostly no time to play or do fun activities which is why now is the time to do so.
Most adults probably wouldn't care or really know what they memorably did at this age in high school, but I know I wont forget. Which is why moments I had at this age is something I will remember fro most of my life as I live it. Even when there are mistakes that have been done, they must be remembered. In rain or shine these events that have partaken will somewhat stay in my mind and be a thing of the past once I grow older. In the end many can agree that these moments, at this age, will never be forgotten.

I also agree the fact that you stated that teachers can forget what they did in the age of 14 or 15 they can forget who they use to hang out with.I also like the way you said that when going to work there is no time to hang out because of work and spending too much time on at it as well. 7. I wouldn't forget my age (14) because there is so much that’s happening and your life has just begun. Theres an adventure that's is waiting for you to take. You see the world in a way that only you can understand. You take an adventure to high school. Meet new friends, get to know the life of an younger adult.

You make mistakes as a 14 year old. But when you are 14 you know what you’ve done wrong. And things you’ve done right. When you’re 14 you see drama. You are some what apart of it. You make friends and you lose some.

Being 14 means you’re on your own. You take risks that only you can undo. Being 14 makes you the adult, that’s why it’s the best age. You dont have to listen to what people always tell you. And 14 means that you are free of being a kid. And no longer have to sit at the BABY table. The moment they ask you to grave your food and say “come sit over here, that table is too small for you” then you know you are an young adult.

  8. You know, being a teenager is an important stage in life. Hormones going crazy, mixed emotions, high school struggles. Everything falls apart slowly. Everything everyone says, annoys you. You parents do not seem to understand. They had forgotten about their teenage years and now are stuck in adulthood. I know one thing I will never forget, are the parties I've gone too, the girls I have dated or will date, the teachers who always supported me and of course. The old friends I used to have.

Although new things can come into your life as a teenager, both good or bad, such as drugs or gang activity which will lead you and influence you to do the bad thing. Good things however such as love, new friends, rewards for being the best you can in a sport or activity, will surely lead you into the successful part of life. Those moments are the hardest to get but not impossible, with my hard work I put myself through now I know I can become someone better then my parents.

My parents never finished school, they don't understand the hard work you get there, but I somewhat do. Not just because I attend a college prep school, but because my cousins have gone to college and they know how hard you have to work in order to become anything you wish to be. This is surely one thing I won't never forget as a teenager, my dedication to school and if possible other activities and social life too.I know I need to show my parents whats it like to go to college and succeed in life, that way they wont forget my moment and remember what they wish they would of done in their teenage years.

  9. One thing i will never forget about being 15 is learning from past mistakes and doing better the next time the opportunity comes around. I make lots of mistakes but one thing i try not to do is make the same mistake twice. I want to do better every time I attempt something a second time or do it again. When i do make a mistake a second time I make sure that i don't do it the third time.
One example of this is when o take my fitness test for P.E. I always try to improve on my previous scores. No matter how high i get i want to do better and if there is a limit or cut off i want to reach it every time. Like on our fitness test i got 80 curl ups which is the limit and i plan on reaching the limit again for the next fitness test.
I try to do this for all things; sports, school, and exercising. The one i have the most difficulty in is school because can be a bit much at times. I will remember this because i want to achieve many things in life and it all started when i was 15. I want to have goals in mind so i can work my way to achieving them.

  10. Something I wont forget about my age that my parents already forgot is the struggles of being a teenager, my friends, and high school. There's a lot of struggles of being a teenager. Like school, you have to keep up with it and most of the time it gets really boring. Another struggle that I think almost every teenager goes through is trying to fit in with everybody else. I think when parents say to just be your self they don't really know whats going on because it's way different now than it was then. Also the struggle of just having to move on in life and having to do things on your own because you ain't a kid anymore. I'm 14 years old and my mom is 32. I don't think she really understands the struggles that I have in school and especially out of school.
I won't forget my friends. I know my parents already forgot about their friends back in middle school and high school. But I don't want to forget about my friends because we've done so many things together. We would get out of school and just hangout all day, sometimes go to McKinely park just to meet up with other friends. We would get caught a lot of times and almost get in trouble most of the time. All these memories that I have with my friends is the ones I want to remember.
High school. Well I obviously a freshman but I think my high school years is something I would want to remember because some people say its the best years of your life. So far, for me, thats not true. But im hoping that it will get better. I think parents have forgotten of it because they made some mistakes. Mistakes that they dont want to look back at and just want to forget. Or maybe because they went to a boring school and nothing was interesting. Either way most of them always forget their high school years, but i dont want too.

  11. I would never forget my best friends because their always their for me when I need them and their part of my life. There's an adventure just waiting for me to take it. The world sees me in a way only I can understand. Every day you take an adventure meeting new people just know your life doesn't get any younger as an adult or teenager. People in your life are always going to be their for you, looking after you, having your back, and just supporting you every step of the way.

As you grow older you make a lot of mistakes mostly because you don't think you just act, but once you grow up you know you've done wrong and try your best to fix it. When your at a certain age you think you apart of it. You have your best friends their to help but you also lose some. You have to be careful because their's a saying friends come and go you always keep a circle of your true friends and never turn your back on them.

Being mature and 14 means your on your own. You have to do everything yourself. Being 14 means you have your best friends, but your also taking a lot of risk because your learning and you really don't know what your doing. Some say you should always listen to yourself and never to what others tell you. Your free of life and not a little kid anymore. You don't have to hear babies all day and you don't have to eat nasty but ok food anymore. You can just be yourself with your friends and can't no one stop you. 12. The thing that I will absolutely never forget about being this age is high school. I would remember all of the long and boring lectures that my parents gave me concerning my grades. They were always so long and tedious, and the bad thing about it is that I never really benefited from them. I would never forget about the problems of being a teenager, like getting into a fight with your best friend. You would call each other names and say things you didn't mean, then regret it the day after. High school is something that I wouldn't forget.

I definitely wouldn't forget about all of my friends. Each and every one of them has a special place in my heart. Some of them are really crazy and funny, but others were really cool and collected. I’ve met some really great people over the past few years, and I’m so thankful that I did. I wouldn’t forget about my friends because I’ve made some of the greatest memories with them.

I think that adults have, somewhat, forgotten about high school because it probably wasn’t the greatest experience for them. Maybe, they have made fun and greater experiences than high school. I think that adults have forgotten most arguments that they’ve been into because it wasn’t that relevant to them. In addition, I think that adults have forgotten high school friends, which is so sad. I think that they’ve forgotten how much fun they used to have with them.

Adults would most likely forget about being fifteen because maybe when they were this age they didn't experience anything fun. Or they should just simply just have bad memory and just forgot about it. But I would make sure I would forget the twelve months of me being fifteen.
Experiencing being fifteen is a unforgettable age because I get to experience being in high school. 14. One thing I will never forget at the age of 14 is the lessons I have learned the hard way instead of just doing what I'm suppose to do. I will never forget the first time I got LaSalle, the most horrible place on the planet it is like having a time out, because I took a short cut to what I was suppose to do. Since I had a LaSalle the first day of school I wanted to just go home and never come back but as much as I tried to not get LaSalle I kept on getting them. I must have just done everything wrong because I got LaSalle all the time until I Knew what i was suppose to do.
I stopped doing everything the easy way because that was the reason why I couldn't stop getting LaSalle until I seen the way I can do my homework and not get LaSalle. When I stopped doing everything the easy way I stopped getting it. I learned my mistake from doing my homework the easy way and I ended up doing it the right way so that I wouldn't get LaSalle. when I stopped I have not gotten a LaSalle since that day I had never gotten LaSalle.
I think that most parents forgotten their past mistakes so that they won't be embarrassed. I also think that most people wouldn't like to learn from there past so that in the future the same thing wouldn't make the same mistakes. I think that most people don't want to be humiliated and feel like they are the dumbest person alive. This is why I think that most grown ups forget there past and what I will never forget my past of age 14.

  15. Dear Reader,

One thing I will never forget about being my age is the music and also the fashion that came out in my generation. I will also remember the words that people was called if they did some wrong that adults might not remember. One thing I will remember is the type of parties being thrown every Friday.

Another thing I will remember is the crime that went on while I was this age. The crime rate was very high because most of the people my age was either killing each other or breaking the laws and was punished for it. I will remember that because the crime rate in 2013 was really high due to killing and robbing or even kidnapping children and trying to kill them after.

Finally I will remember this age because it was the first I started high school and met new friends. I will remember this because starting high school is really big because you have to be more responsible and careful. Another thing I will remember about being this age and in high school is the freedom in freshman year you have a little amount of freedom.

  16. Dear Readers,

The one thing that I'll never forget is how energetic and fit I am now, because most of the time when you are adults, you can end up siting down behind a desk doing absolutely nothing but working and having no free time to have fun.

Adults forget how fun it was to be a teenagers because most of the adults end up behind a boring desk doing boring things in a boring room. Teenagers are different, they are so energetic and full of life, but all that is going to go away some day and you'll be sad due to the fact that you are not able to have fun with all your fit friends makes you feel like working or playing some sims game behind your desktop computer while eating a lot of oreos and ice cream for your whole life. Instead of eating unhealthy foods and get over weight do something that can make you feel like you are a good person, because not only you are a living human being that can change the world in any type of way, you are you. So go ahead make use to the energy you have now so you can be happy later. If you want to live behind a computer screen go ahead and do it, nobody is stoping you, but you are being warned.

  17. One thing I will never forget at this age, fourteen, is the new friendships I have made and all the new people in my life due to high school. High school is such a new experience from elementary school. In high school you’re up three hours doing homework, attending office hours, and studying for test. In elementary school, everyone is used to the same routine. Such as, having the same schedule and walking from class to class that are right next to each other. And in high school everything is new. And along with that, you have advisory sisters that you grow bonds with and some of them just turn out to be your best friends. You start off with a simple conversation and then start walking to classes together and from there, you start to trust them and hang out with them all the time.High school will be something I always remember because it is a time for me to grow up, find the person I want to be, becoming an adult and maturing. But one thing I will never forget is the stress high school puts you through.

Adults ,or our parents, might not remember their high school friendships or experiences. And that is because they just might not want to remember because it brings up bad times. Also, just because it was a long time ago. Now they are busy all the time. They have to go to work, even if they don’t like it and if they have kids they have to worry about them and care for them. So when they are doing that, they don’t think about what happened in high school. Adults are stressed out all the time. Waking up early and getting themselves to work on time and also their children.

That is why high school will be an experience I will always remember. I am having the chance to meet new people, create strong friendships, grow up and learn new things that will help me succeed. And I am learning what the real world is like and learning to depend on myself, not others.

  18. I know I will never forget the time I came to UIC College Prep because it was the school that I had never plan to choose. People were pressuring me on coming to this school which I never wanted to go in the first place. I was going to De La Salle with my best friend name Sydney. My dad and my older sister went to that high school I could have been the third person of my family to go to that school. I was eager when I first came into those doors of UIC College Prep and thought it would be very good school even better than De La Salle but I was wrong. This school can have some new improvement that can be not too harsh on the disciple, not trying to make the students do things they do not like to do, and also if that student wants work individual let them work individually. On the very first day I had got my first La Salle for not reading a certain part over summer break in Human Geography and I know that the La Salle was crowded it had taken up two rooms full of students with no work show on math and not reading the “7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens” by: Sean Covey.

The disciple on the student is very hard like if you miss one problem on your homework you would stay after school called La Salle and do your work for one full hour. I do not like this because this has happen to me to many times in this past school year. I would be frustrated at the teacher for like five minutes and not answer or pay attention to them. Then I feel like I am in a good mode I would go back and pay attention to the teacher. Sometimes if it is my favorite class I would ignore just for a second and continue and raise my hand. I know that if I did something wrong on my homework and get a La Salle I know I can do it again and earn half of the credit which is way better than a zero. I wish that I had never came to the school and suffer all of these consequences and rules that this school has. If I had never came to this school I would not be able to meet all of my cool friends that would help in through any tough situation even when I am a failing a class or not. Would make me happy everyday because they are there to getting mad.

I also do like how some teachers teach the class sometime they tell you the materials and you have to start on it by yourself and look through the book. It is complicated because you need to go to the chapter of the book or to a website at home or in school in order to finish your work or something that you did not get or do. I would be so frustrated when I do not get a problem I would read the problem a billion of times and still do not get it. At the end I would give up and ask somebody in my family that is at home to help me or explain to me. If not I would text a friend or go to the school early in the morning to ask a friend help or a teacher for help. I know that every school is different and that each school has its own set of rules. You can never decide on a school that has rules or not because their would be something that you would always need to follow for the rest of your life. I know that once I walk into those school doors everyday I would have to follow a different set a rules. Once I am outside their would be another set of rules to follow, even when you are at home there will be house rules.

  19. Be The Freshman ⇒
You are now the freshman, running through the halls to get to your next class. As you run past the office, you noticed a parent, just standing there and not even bothering to say anything as students in the halls run for their lives to class. In class, you wonder if adults have forgotten how it feels like to be a freshman. They may remember their senior and college years, but what about their first year in high school? Have they forgotten how to be 14-15 year old teens running through the halls?

Even do they are adults, freshman year was and always will be the most challenging year. Why? This is not first grade nor second in where everyone is happy to have you around, you’re new to the school, and so are the rest of the people. Some may know others, others go with friends, and some are loners, having to start all over again. Freshman year is when one starts fresh, sees new things that in their small middle and elementary school you weren’t aware of.

Have the adults forgotten? Forgotten how to be a freshman in high school? They probably forgotten because they were so into the whole new life of freedom in college, or finally been able to be ‘adults’. Have parents forgotten too? They have a child that will or is a freshman, doesn't that spark any sign of memory? The adults probably have a lot of things to worry about than to actually care to remember the old times. Maybe adults have forgotten how to be the freshman in high school but not in college. S- Oh my god what just happened?! This is not my class!

Something that I will never forget is when I first got to UIC College Prep when I was 14 years old.I was very nervous in going to my first day of high school, and I was very sad that I had to leave my old friends from middles school that I spend almost my whole life with. I thought that there were going to be people that I dont even know or people that are going to ignore me ad pretend like I'm not there. I will never forget when I first met my teachers at UIC, I thought they were very nice to me and to all the other students.

Another thing that I will never forget is when I was in the soccer team in UIC. I had so much fun when we would jog to the park and back to school. I liked when we would play a little scrimmage with each other. Another that I will never forget is how I quit the soccer team, I think thats a memory that I will never forget in my whole life. I quit because I really didnt get that much playing time in the field so I decided to quit.

The last thing that I will never forget is my tenth birthday. I remember how many people came to my party there was more than a hundred people. Many of my friends came to my party also, so I was very happy. Also how much money and presents I got from my birthday party. This is a memory that I will never forget.

  21. Dear Reader,
Something i will never forget about being my age are the trends that are going on right now. I will always keep in mind the styles that girls thought they were cute, and the latest models. Also i will remember the boys trends and what their style is. Because i know in the future these trends are not going to be popular anymore, neither is the way people take pictures or dress, everything will be different and when I'm older i would tell the young one our trends and what we liked to do.

Parents forgot what it feels to be a teenager because they are to busy worrying about things like money or their business. Parents think that teens are crazy all the time and that we do really dumb things but they forgot that we are teens and we like to have fun a lot and that's just how we act around this age. Parents also forgot that teens sometimes do have their attitude but that's because teens like to be free and not to be bossed around. This is what parents have forgotten about.

Overall i will never forgot all the things i did as a teenager or saw, because they are memories and i might think that i did make dumb choices but i will remember that it was my teenage years and all i wanted to do was to have fun! But sometimes parents don't remember when they were young so they think that everything we do is really immature but that's how teens are!

  22. Dear Reader,

I will never forget about the year 2013, because their was a lot of things that have occurred that year. Such as, I have graduated from 8th grade and I would never forget about it, since it was a day where I knew I had came a long way to finally say goodbye to middle school and hello to high school. There were so many ups and downs that have occurred in school, but I still managed to keep my head high and be successful. Even though at times I do wish I could go back to middle school because I miss all of the memories and crazy things that me and my friends did or field trips we went on. Which was the best part of being in middle school, but as I look back, I see that I had made a lot of mistakes in this year that I’m hoping not to make again in the following years.

Another thing that I would never forget about is getting accepted to Uic College Prep. I wouldn't forget about this because when I was in 8th grade applying to schools I really didn't think that I would be one of those 200 students to get pulled in the lottery to attend here. But as soon as I received a letter in the mail for Uic. I was so anxious to see what it said so when I opened it, it had “Congratulations! we would like for you to attend our school” I was so happy that I couldn't believe that I actually got accepted into Uic College Prep. I wouldn't forget the first couple of weeks of my freshman year being at Uic College Prep. Eve though it may be strict and everything, but I know that, by attending here I can get a good education.

Adults might of forgotten about their past lives of being a teenager, like what they did or how was it like in their middle school or high school years. But I know that deep inside of them they didn’t really forget about it, because they're trying to remember their past mistakes or successful things that they did. And trying to help us out by not making the same mistakes as they did while they were our age. Which is a good thing because we don’t want to follow in their paths even though some of the things they had done was good or bad.

  23. What I’m absolutely sure about never forgetting being the age of sixteen and that adults will forget is their first favorite song of that year. I chose this because there are a million songs in the world that you won’t always remember unless you hear it years later. My song is called “King and Lionheart” by Of Monsters and Men. Why would you pick that song? I picked that song because it has so much meaning that I won’t think I will ever forget about it. It was mine and my best friend Edgar’s song because during the time we went to Washington D.C. we knew that we were going separate ways.
“As the world comes to an end I’ll be here to hold you hand” That was the lyric that popped out most about this song because we promised we would be there for each other no matter what. For adults they probably forgot about the simplest thing that’s happened to them like a promise to a friend or that one song that makes you feel invisible. I know for sure that my parents have forgotten their favorite song because every time they watch a show or movie they’re just like “Oh yeah I remember that song”. For me I know that won’t happen because how the song has so much value to it. Songs come and go for sure but the best ones stick with you forever.
I think this happens to adults because they have so much on their plates with kids, work, and family. That’s how every small memory fades and that’s what I’m afraid of what if everything you truly love fades from your memory and you lose sight of yourself. The one time me and my mother were in the car listening to music The Smiths came on and the song was called “How Soon Is Now”. She hadn’t listen to it for years and still remembered the lyrics. My question was if you like the song then how could you forget it? Now that you see what I’m talking about I hope none of us forget that one song that made us feel great.

At the age of fourteen, you had experienced many things throughout your life. All the things that you have gone through- your first school dance, winning a football game, your first girlfriend or boyfriend- should all be cherished for the rest of your life. For me, the one thing I will always remember in life is passing one part of the fitness test in high school. It was an amazing feat in my opinion as I did not prepare for the test at all.

The part I had finished in the fitness test was the push-up test. Because I never had much time to work out, I thought I would do terribly in the test. Nonetheless, sheer willpower helped me do well in the push-up test. I told my parents about my success, and they were very pleased by it. However, two months after my success, they forgot all about it. I didn’t mind though; it was my achievement and only I should care for it.

I believe that adults forget about what we remember because they may not have the time to cherish those memories. They go through work for most of the day, where they don’t have time to think about other things instead of doing work, and once they come home from work, they are tired and just want to relax. I can truly understand why this happens, but truthfully, it does not matter to me in the slightest bit. My parents could forget about a lot of things about me, but I’m still their son, and should love me no matter what.

  25. Something I would surely never forget is my freedom, and what I had to do to get it. I always have to clean my room and the house, wash the dishes, clothes, and many other chores. I have to do multiple chores that may include my brother’s chores to just go out for one day. The house could already be clean, and I still have to do other things to go out. Sometimes I do everything before I ask to go out; my parents then say that I did a good job, and that I could do anything. Therefore, I ask them if I could go somewhere, and they hit me with: “you need to clean this.. do that..there’s no time for you to go out!”

It’s like my parents forgot about their teens and going out. Both my grandmas always told me stories of how my parents sometimes left the house without permission. If I did that now, I would never be able to go out in a while. My parents used to be very outgoing, and now they’re so strict. I bet if they remembered doing all the things they did to go out, they wouldn’t make me do as many chores.

I will always remember this, so when I have kids, if I have kids, I would treat them fairly. Although my parents give me a lot of chores, I will still remember the times that I didn’t really have to do anything to go out. Sometimes they just let me go out even if I didn’t clean my room. I may think my parents forgot their teens years when they could possibly still remember them. They may just not talk about it as much.

  26. The one things that am positive that I will never forget about being this age, is how much stress can be put on you in school and our taste in music. I believe that adults have forgotten about this. I think the reason why they forgot about this is because things have changes a lot since they were are age. Schools are now becoming more strict and they are now expecting a lot more from their students. Before, it wasn't required to be included in an enrichment, but now it is. The way the school system works is very, very different from back then. And adults don't really understand that, unfortunately.
I'm pretty sure we all can relate to each other when I say that our parents think that school is easy. But I think we can all agree that it's NOT! Yes we have more technology, yes we have more teachers, etc. but now schools are expecting SO much from us. Sometimes it's really hard to keep up. And our parents think that we just aren't trying hard enough. But they wouldn't know because they don't know how it is in schools.
Another thing that adults don't understand is our music! "Wow you're generations music is awful. Why are they screaming? Why are they so upset?" These are just some of the things that I hear my parents say about my music. In the car when we listen to the radio, they always switch the station. They don't understand that our generation doesn't enjoy listening to Boys to Men!!

Adults had it so much easier back then! They wouldn't be able to take the heat. I think they should understand that sometimes we just need a break after a stressful day at school. I definitely won't forget the stress, as written in my post. I also agree with the taste in music. This is our generation, not theirs.

  28. Dear Reader,

The thing in my life that i am sure i will never forget would be me turning the age of fifteen, the things that some adults would forget would be the way that they acted at my age.i say this would be one of my best memories because it was a huge turn in life for me, it the age where i am closer to being on my own, the age where i am finally able to get a job at certain places, being able to go hang out more with me friends and be in by 10:00pm.
As adults get older in life they sometimes get mad at the thinks we teens know was not right, but no all the time do they themselves realize that they as well pulled the same stunt, for example sneaking out to go some where with your friends. Also adult some times may forget about the amount of stress that we feel like if out on us, with the amounts of homework, the getting good grades, it is sometimes when they can relate but is other times when it may slip there minds.
overall being fifteen would just be the main one event that i would never really forget in my lifetime of transforming into and adult. i can see that as time goes on memories can start to slip from you, like my mom says "time flies when your having fun" and "enjoy every moment of being a teenager because once your an adult there is no going back to being a teenager". which i agree so these are the type of memories that i will not forget and the memories that adult can sometimes forget.

  29. Dear Readers,
The things we won't forget about high school is the trouble and struggles that we had to go through during our high school. We had more trouble with with our work sometimes. Sometimes we have trouble getting our grades to where we want them to be. We sometimes don't walk into school with the right attitude, because we don't want to be here this early in the morning.

Our parents believe that getting an education is the easy thing a kid can ever do. Sometimes when we come home tired, they think that we just sit down all day paying attention to the teachers. But we really have to walk to every class in 5 minutes or less. They think that getting good grades is also easy. You have to work hard to reach the teachers standers and reach those A's you want in your grades.
Parents don't understand what we have to do to be come a successful person. They just predict that we go in have a sit and BAMM! we have A's in those classes but we don't. We just have different struggles that we are facing that different to the struggles they are facing. This is how our we have to get through to become successful.

  30. Being a freshman at the age of fourteen is something you can't forget. I have so many worries, so much frustration, and very big responsibilities. I won't forget the first year of high school, especially since I got my first detention. I was late to all my classes, I was lost, I didn't look so pretty, and I couldn't open my locker. I am very stressed out when it comes to school. I won't forget how big of a challenge this year is, for me being a freshman.

Being a freshman now, especially since I go to UICCP, is so stressful! I have to worry about 3 hours of homework being done, getting good grades, making sure I don't attend summer school, worrying about my own life at home because I don't have time to myself, and so much more. This is probably the hardest year of a person's life. Entering high school is tough, but I'm pretty sure after freshman year is over, everything starts to get less frustrating. I will definitely not forget my freshman year.

Adults have probably forgotten some of the things since it was such a big experience. The only thing I could probably say towards them is that they most likely had it ten times easier than us. They probably did get hard classes but to us, those classes will be easy to us , since we are learning more advanced things now. Adults have other things to worry about now, so that's probably why they have forgotten their first year of high-school. I just know I'll never forget my rough year.

  31. What I’m absolutely sure that I will never forget about being my age is the way school is ran. I positive that I will not forget this because school is a lot to handle. Its hard to handle because you have to do your homework everyday, pay attention in class, and try to get at least eight hours of sleep. That never happened to me. I was stressing out over every homework assignment so that I can get full credit for everything.
Most parents think that it is easy. Well it’s not because you just don’t walk into school thinking that you can just get straight A’s. It’s harder than it looks. Many adults forgot how it was like when they were in school because they probably didn’t have as much homework or they didn’t go to a very good school. Parents think it is so easy because they already did it without using technology which most people don’t have access to it right now. They had to make everything handwritten which is easier.
That is like something that I’ve never seen before. They don’t know what it is like to be us. They don’t know what we are going through in life. Also they probably were not really paying attention to what they were doing.

  32. Parents nowadays don't remember how everything was in high school, there minds are like a mind of a fish very forgetful. But usually they think high school is something that is easy to complete but it's not. high school is like having to compete withe whole world because your parents are always putting that pressure on you that you have to be the best out of everybody which is nearly impossible. and adding to that having to deal with hours and hours of homework every night is like falling into a never ending whirl pool of homework. And to add on to that pressure in this school you have to worry about your fitness, enrichment credit , and community service which leaves little bit of time for sleep time and homework time. That is something they probably never experienced or probably forgot about.

Another thing i wouldn't forget is all the pressure into choosing what high school your going to enroll to. See there are people who want you to accompany them to the same high school, but then you have people like your parents who want to choose for you. i would say that this is one of the hardest decisions of your life, which parents have probably forgot about because they don't have to worry about school anymore.

But most of all i think parents have really forgotten is how hard it is to adapt to a new surrounding or school habitat. i say this is one of the most forgotten things because the most focused topic would be homework and grades, but adapting to a new place is way harder because your like the only fish in the pond all alone without friends, and also having to adapt to the new rules. but parents have forgotten about this because they made friends and all but don't remember how hard it was to make friends. That's why i think it was the most forgetful because to most people it doesn't seem very important so its easy to forget just like our parents did.

  33. something that I will never forget at this age is all the great music I listen to. I would never forget the close I wore. I would never forget the time I started high school.I would never forget the great people I've met.I would never forget how weird I was when It came to talking to girls.
The things I would never forget about being this age is how I was the most awkward person when it came to talking to new people. I will never forget being the anti-social kid that hates people because he doesn't like to talk. I will never forget how I choose to listen to music instead of having a social life. I would never forget the time I tried to learn how to play bulls in the Bronx by pierce the veil and I just couldn't get it right because it was hard to play. I would never forget that all I would wear is band t-shirts. I would never forget how many people called me crazy just because of my style of music.
Something I would never forget at this age is all the people I had met that like the same type of music as me. I would never forget the dumb things I would do because I was bored. I would never forget how my parents didn't understand me because of what music I would listen to. I would never forget how I hated coming to uic because I thought that this was a punishment for me. I would never forget the time I was told I couldn't do anything because I was lazy because I know I will prove them wrong someday.

  34. Something that I know I won't forget about being this age is all of the firends that I have met. They are all very sweet and they are always there to help me when I need them. I feel that making these friends are important to me right now as I am growing up because I will always know that I would have people to lean on when I need help. I think adults forget about things like this because now in our generation we have this much harder and most adults don't understand why we always look for that person or group that will always be there for us.

I won't forget about being in high school and on the frist day not knowing where to go, trying to find out where my classes were and trying not to be late for class, and I think adults now wouldn't understand that because their schools wheren't as strict as UICCP is. They expect so much from us that sometimes it is to hard for some to handle. So adults when they were in school they probablt didn't have as many rules to follow. We have certian expatitions that we need to meet to be the best we can. We have to wear out clothes a certian way and wear a certian type of shoes and a lot of other things that they expect us to do.

I won't forget about being this age is falling in love for the first time. Meeting that special person that you just feel you can't and won't lie without. My frist high school boy friend. Tall, dark, handsome, and really smart. Just geting that feeling make you want to just melt. Most adults forget about things like this and they don't see how hard it is for us to not want to have someone special in out lives. They always tell us we don't have time for that relationship type stuff, but they have to put their selfs in our shoes and relive their younger days. They were just like this. Falling in love with that special person in high school, to shy to talk, not wanting to be noticed by them, and getting those happy feelings. Making themselfs happy because they need that person in their life.

  35. Something I will absolutely never forget about being this age is making mistakes, learning from them and becoming a better person as a whole. I have made plenty of mistakes this past year. For example, I trusted the wrong people and thought they would be there for me but there weren't. Those kinds of people are just very nosy, they want to know everything without even caring the smallest bit. I have also disrespected my parents so many times, and now I know I don't want to be that type of person.

I have learned from many other mistakes also, but that'll take forever to list. Making mistakes is okay, because that's how people learn to do the right things. I will never forget when I actually realized I'm becoming a more stronger and healthier person, at the age of 14. Making those mistakes and learning from them really had gotten' me well prepared for what i'm going to go through not only in high school, but also college. I can now say I've made myself happy by the kind of person I've become. This school has really brought the life into me and gave me enough knowledge to know what exactly i'm headed for.

Adults and or our parents have probably forgotten because when they were my age they probably didn't realize what they will never forget. They probably never looked back at things in life they have gone through. Well, maybe some adults haven't forgotten. For instance, my parents know what their childhood was like but sometimes the refuse to tell me because maybe they did something bad and they don't want us to think that's okay to do now. It all really depends on the person because every adult is different.

  36. The one that I will never forget and my parents and adults in my family will forget is I was the first day that I was playing softball it was three years ago during summer. It was hot out and I was going to sign up to play a sport and I didn’t know what to choose at the time. Since it was too late to play basketball I decide to go with softball. I went to go see the team I was like nevermind I could stay home and do something else. THat when I also decide to stick with something during the summer so I wasn’t so lazy. I ended up making friends and one comes here to UIC as while.

The first day of practice was really hard concreting all the new people I just met.During the season I found out this isn’t just a team it was family that you could lean if you needed to. My family members would had forgotten the first time I played softball because it was hard time with the family losing one of the best family members ever to sickness. iwa the star of the time you could say because when someone hit the ball very low to the ground I would jump to get it before it touch the ground.
I would say that was the best that I had playing sports from meeting new people, getting into a new hobby, and being yourself while playing what you love. That is why I’m going to join this year to be on the UIC team and meet new people and learn new things. I would remember this for the rest of my life because I felt part of a team for once in my life will besides my family. This is what I’m going to remember and adults would forget in a period of time.

  37. There are many things that are starting to come out. Technology is very advanced up to this day. New people getting into new stuff. And the things that were “cool” are just being forgotten. Since, new things come out a lot now, many other things get forgotten. Teens are the ones that use Technology the most. Old technology is not even mentioned anywhere, anymore.
I think some of the things I’ll never forget when I get older is High School. I’m sure it’ll be something I carry with me for a very long time. Another thing is going to be all this technology. And everything new that’s coming out. The media and all that stuff. But, mostly all of my friends. The ones I’m at high school with.
Some adults may forget all of their childhood memories. And some of the things they did when they were little. All the technology they grew up with. It wasn’t like the one there is now, but it was something.

some thing i will never for get for being this age is all the trouble i have gotten in and that i have learned from, i will never for get those things because they helped me know right from wrong and i learned that i could make better choses then what i did. i really do think that i will never forget my mistakes because i have gotten my self in a big hole because of them and had to get my self out. i think i have learned from everything i had messed up on.

I well never forget what i have learned from this year meaning on how if you really want to get something done you have to do it your self because you cant count on anyone and no one will hold your hand. I have learned that even though i have made mistakes i could always fix them and make them better. i do think it all starts with the mind, you have to think positive and once you do you will have a good day with good results.

Adults probably forget at there age because new things have, more important things have came up to there life which has cause them to forget. They may even have a lot going on which makes them forget all the things and may be busy that they dont have enough time to even recall all the things that have happend to them in there life. Adults may forget for all those reasons but hopefully that is not the case for all and every one of them.

  39. At this age I am sure that I won’t forget about a lot of things. My mom is always talking to me about how the things that I do now as a teen is what she did back then. She reminds me every day that I am exactly like her in many ways, like how I get in trouble a lot and how her sisters treated her. There is some things that shes forgot that I am not sure about, but it seems to me that my grandmother and grandfather forget about more things than my mother has. I don’t think I would ever forget about the times where I was always at my cousins house spending time with them and pulling off pranks on each other. Every christmas we would go to my aunts house and wait till midnight to open presents. Then after that we would all sleep over.
Parents now and days are always forgetting the times they have at high school and grammar school, but only the rough times because they don’t want to remember those things. As a teen, I know that I would remember the times i’ve had at high school because i feel like these are the times that i can talk about to other people about how it was tough, yet interesting and fun at the same time. How you find out who your friends are and who you are. I think that parents say that they forge things, but they really don’t because they might not like the way that they were when they were a teen and they don’t want to make it sound like what they did was ok, because usually teens pick up from their parent’s.
I know that I would never forget about the times hanging out with my cousins because still to this day i remember the first time i really got to know them. My mom says the same thing about her cousins, when she would always go out with them and now it’s funny that their children are close now like they were. It depends on what the parents do in their life for them to remember what they did. Not every parent is going to say that they remember their childhood because they might not what their kids to do what they did because they feel like it’s okay.

It was dark and the trees where dancing. It was are first night at the camp site and my little cousins wanted to play hide and seek. so i agreed to be it and when i was finally done counting i went off to go look for them. I thought i hard one laughing behind a tree and so i i turned around quick and ran to that tree and then tripping over something on the floor which had bring me down to the floor. I felled pretty hard and it hurt a lot, when i started to look up i seen this bright light and i heard a vibration.

I reached my arm out to grab it and when i it was in my hand it felt so powerful and different. I then heard my name being called out and put the phone right into my pocket . For some reason it felt like i had to keep the phone safe and that if anyone found it or took it away from me something bad will happen. It end up being my mom who was calling me, she started asking a lot of questions like where was i, why did i take so long and all of this other stuff i didnt pay attention to.

I walked really fast to get to the camp site and when i did i went in my tent and i started going threw the phone it was so weird and different, different meaning in a good way. there were so much on there that was so special. I loved it at that moment but then the phone started vibrating again and i got scared. My mom heard it and asked what do i have in my hand i told her and she said i have to give it back the its right person. I was sad but did in the morning.

  41. At this age I would never forget how tuff high school is, but I think that my parents completely
forgot it. Do you know what I hate the most is that my parents don’t get me or high school. Ya I
know they went and all put they just seem not to get it things changed since then. Just look
around at all the technology today that is completely different now, everything is touch screen,
phones are getting bigger, different color, and style. Everything and I mean everything. For
example, UIC College Prep is different from a lot of schools not all schools are hard and hold
high expectations from their student, but this school is so strict and hard on their student. This
is what my parents don’t understand is school and teens lives.
I love my parents don’t get me wrong but they don’t get what I have to go throw. I get so
frustrated that I want to explode, go to my room scram my heart out yelling to myself, pulling
my hair out that is how mad I get. The thing that I think they get the most is homework. Now I
don’t know if you go throw this but every time I have a lot of homework my mom wants me to
clean my room, take care of my little sister. I try telling her that I have a lot ,but she doesn’t
    listen to me.
It’s hard to do things when my parents don’t get it take algebra as an example I come home
needing help on homework and my parents don’t know what to do or how to do it its like telling
them to build a time machine. My mother said I had to come to this school because of my
older brother comes here. She sometimes knows it can be hard a lot harder than other
schools , but sometimes I tell her and she just says oh okay thats cool. This school was never
here when my mom went to high school. She went to a school where they wanted their
students to do well, but here they expect a lot more from use getting us ready for
college.Sometimes my Parents just doesn’t get how hard my high school could be for me.
